How to make cloth dinner napkins....

First start with an old fabric shower curtain that you have had for something like.... 9 years... and it just so happens that one late October day you walk into the bathroom and decide you are tired of staring at the same blah tan linen shower curtain helplessly hanging there, so you decide to cut it up and make cloth dinner napkins out of it instead.... because it's still in "like new condition"... and who would toss out a perfectly good shower curtain anyway?
First measure one of your favorite linen napkins that you already own and use on a regular basis. This way you know what size to cut the "new" dinner napkins.
Lay giant shower curtain out on your floor and meausre 22" squares with a giant ruler and a purple craolya marker because you are to lazy to go looking for a fabric pencil... and it's a washable marker anyway so it will come out...
Then fold your edges over not once but twice and iron into place...
Pin edges into place and get ready to sew...
Borrow your neighbors sewing machine (becasue you have broken yours) and proceed to sew around the edges of the napkin...
See...look at that...will you look at that...it looks like a cloth napkin...
1 shower curtain = 9 cloth napkins
How's that for frugal!

FYI> later at dinner:

Monkey boy: Did we get new napkins?
Mavis: No.... does the fabric look familiar?
Mavis: Does it remind you of your old shower curtain?
Monkey Boy: Oh wow, that's cool...
Handsome Husband: That's gross... Don't be telling people we are using a shower curtain as a napkin... that's weird...
Mavis: You're weird...

I LOVE comments BUT if you know who we are...due to the fact that we are currently enrolled in the international witness relocation program because of a moon shining incident in Dingle, Ireland involving 3 Mutton, a pair of red shoes and a road flare .... please do not reveal our personal information.... You know.... like names, places, or our favorite brand of toilet paper :) Hey, thanks!
