Wet Chickens.....

When it's cold and rainy outside this little housewife in suburbia doesn't want to go out to collect the eggs....
she instead has visions of chicken soup....
chicken stir fry...
and
chicken pot pie...
But then she remembers that she wanted fresh eggs...
and fresh eggs come from backyard chickens...
who live in a trendy lime green Eglu.
So sometimes she has to get up off her suburbia beehind...
and move the coop to higher ground...
herself.....
because if she doesn't....
all four chickens will have an "accident"...as per her handsome husband.
But before she can do that, she has to wash the coop,
convince the girl who thinks shes a bird that if she wants
to go to her friends pumpkin carving party that she will have to
catch all the wet chickens, help her mother move the coop and then
place them back in said coop....

Because the good Lord knows.... the handsome husband wants nothing more than to
hear his little wifey say.... "Honey, I'm done with the whole chicken thing"...
to which he would then reply.... "I told you so".... and then remind little wifey how much he paid for the trendy little lime green chicken coop... and then finally... "Why can't you be like all the other women around here and want a new purse or designer jeans?"
Who wants designer jeans and a new purse when you can have chickens?...
I mean really... the handsome husband should be so lucky that she doesn't want him to buy her one of those ridiculous "pet purses" so she can carry the chickens around town with her... you know... taking them into stores and restaurants....

So after safely moving the 4 birds to higher ground....
(actually into one of the 14 garden boxes)...
She looked at how happy the chickens were...
to be searching for slugs... and worms...
and remembered... she is getting not only free eggs...
but free fertilizer too.
And that.... is a good thing.

  1. I know how you feel, I ask myself at least once a week if ours are worth the eggs they produce...and they are. But it certainly can be a hassle, especially when it's pouring rain out.

I like the chicken purse idea, now that would be a sight.:)

I LOVE comments BUT if you know who we are...due to the fact that we are currently enrolled in the international witness relocation program because of a moon shining incident in Dingle, Ireland involving 3 Mutton, a pair of red shoes and a road flare .... please do not reveal our personal information.... You know.... like names, places, or our favorite brand of toilet paper :) Hey, thanks!
