Ye Be Thankful....

About 10 years ago I came across Hamish and Ruth...
it was a VERY frivolous purchase at the time...
but something about them "spoke" to me...
I'm not sure exactly what they said...
other than "take me home".
This is Ruth...
She didn't come with a name tag... but
doesn't Ruth sound like a hearty pilgrim name?
Very hardworking... probably bakes awesome pies...
has 8 children... her house: clean as a whistle...
And that bonnet...holy cannoli's... think of all the starch she must have used to make it stand up like that... I wonder what will Ruth say she is thankful for this Thanksgiving...
And her hardworking husband Hamish...
who is named Hamish because there just aren't enough men named Hamish in the world...
and because after seeing the movie 3 weddings and a funeral way back when ... I LOVE THAT NAME...
It's another very hearty name... I wonder what he will be thankful for this year after grace is said and the mashed potatoes are being passed around... and everybody has to announce with great heartfelt emotion what they are thankful for before they are allowed to take a bite... thus maybe one reason why my turkey is always cold by the time I bite into it year after year... and with 14 people planned for dinner this year I'm beginning to think I should sneak a blow torch under my seat so I can re-heat my dinner...
This year... if Thanksgiving were today... on this unusually sunny and peaceful fall day in Seattle...
I'd say I'm thankful that it is fall... and thankful for rain... and the cold weather to come and thankful that today is the last day my handsome husband with be mowing the lawn with the noisy gas powered mower and using that ridiculous leaf blower of his (do please take notice of the 3 count 'em 3 leaves on the driveway) until next spring...

  1. It is nice to have an unusually sunny day in this neck of the woods, isn't it?? We'll take it...since the forcast for the next ten days is looking a little rainy! :) Have a fabulous Thanksgiving!

    Blessings,

  2. I am thankful that you updated today :) And, I have bad news about Thanksgiving. Rita says we are NOT doing a buffet this year. Tell me how, with 14 people and two different tables we are going to fit all the food on the table?

  3. Meester: I was expecting you to say you are thankful that Justin Timberlake is STILL SINGLE :0 I think Rita is nuts...and if she does not want to do a buffet then let her figure it out. In fact ... I know a great restaurant down the street that is serving an awesome dinner...plus... there would be no clean up... or weird in-laws going thru her bathroom drawer :)

  4. Hey Meester and Mavis - I've just had a brilliant idea. How about we just sneak back to my house and have Thanksgiving there? All we have to do is open a couple bottles of wine and sneak out the back door. I bet they wouldn't even notice.

  5. Tori: Are you kidding me? Of course THEY would notice.... who do you think is doing ALL the cooking... YOU:ME:& MEESTER... it's not possible... however maybe you can talk Rita into having Thanksgiving at Maggiano's.

I LOVE comments BUT if you know who we are...due to the fact that we are currently enrolled in the international witness relocation program because of a moon shining incident in Dingle, Ireland involving 3 Mutton, a pair of red shoes and a road flare .... please do not reveal our personal information.... You know.... like names, places, or our favorite brand of toilet paper :) Hey, thanks!
