Mavis has a new pair of shoes....

Today I headed back out walking again...
this was only the second time since the marathon that I have been out walking... the first time was about 10 days or so after the marathon....which was way too soon...

But now... that I'm equipped with the proper shoes.... ie: not trail walking shoes meant for old ladies who need stability... not that stability is a bad thing... nor is being old....

I am embarking on a new "goal" for 2010...

I want to RUN a marathon this year...
and ideally... I'd like to finish with a time that begins with a 4 ...
I still think finishing my first marathon (walking) in 5hours 25 minutes was pretty good... but I feel that with the proper shoes and a quicker pace... I can do better...

Lucky for me my Santa Man... purchased me a stylin' set of new sneakers...
and not only are they stylin'.... but the bottoms are bright orange and very cheery... and they are breathable... ohh....and the best part (according to my electronics loving hubby)... apparently I can hook up that stupid Ipod to the shoe and track my mileage / speed and what not...

How weird is that?

So...I was thinking.... what better way to train for a running marathon... than to start off with something easy....like a 5k... HA! I say HA! because currently I can only run for 3 minutes at a time...well...4 minutes if I'm running down hill.... so to be able to actually run for 3.1 miles... and not finish in last place... would be a small victory in itself...

So I did it... I'm committed...
I payed my fee ... and I'm going for it...

Now... all I have to do is be able to run 3.1 miles by St. Patrick's Day...

You know what they say.... "You can't finish ...unless you begin."

  2. Snazzy shoes. Ask your husband if those fancy shoes will let you blog while you run, too. That would be neat. Oh, to read the thoughts of a running Mavis:-).

  4. Kathy... I can barely turn ON the ipod let alone try and figure out how the shoes work.... I just hope I don't get electrocuted wearing them :)

Thy hand... I should look into a little voice recorder...hmmm

Camille... when I'm wearing the shoes... it doesn't even feel like I'm wearing shoes... kinda cool if you ask me :)

  6. We are both looking forward to hearing how your training goes. In the 4's...wow. I'm still pretty darn amazed at how fast you did your first marathon.

We had our first real run today and my better half managed to do 5.4 miles. I was impressed as she has not been running for over a month now and 7 miles is the farthest she has ever gone. 1/2 marathon here she comes. She has until March 6th.

  7. Mr. H... Way to go Micki! You can do it! Viva Las Vegas! Be sure and get your picture taken with Elvis (I'm sure he won't be too hard to find). And... you better blog about it too... unless of course you are planning a Beans #5 post :) Hardy har har....

I LOVE comments BUT if you know who we are...due to the fact that we are currently enrolled in the international witness relocation program because of a moon shining incident in Dingle, Ireland involving 3 Mutton, a pair of red shoes and a road flare .... please do not reveal our personal information.... You know.... like names, places, or our favorite brand of toilet paper :) Hey, thanks!
