Growing up in Suburbia.....
and then raising your own kids in Suburbia.......
is strange....
Take this morning for example......
I discovered I'm out of pancake mix.....
PANCAKE MIX?
What am I suppose to do now? The monkeys must eat a real "hot" breakfast before starting their day....I'm not sending them off to school without "real food"....if the handsome husband and the little people want crappy sugar laced cereal....then they can have it on the weekend....
not on a school day.....
Back to the pancakes.......

from what I remember....my mom always bought the frozen pancakes in the box....
So I just froze the extra pancakes for later in the week....
During the winter, pancakes are our Sunday dinner, made by Jamey with red raspberries or blueberries, topped with peanut butter and or syrup. Divine. Yours look fabulous and with sausage to boot! Pat yourself on the shoulder, Ms. Mavis.
ReplyDeleteThyhand.... I love fruit on top of pancakes....and whip cream too....After I made these I realized that they had eggs in them....just another thing I can add to my list to feed my unsuspecting husband :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Monkey's tuxedo shirt!!
ReplyDeleteMeester...I knew you would...it comes complete with 2 red rhinestones....classy....
ReplyDeleteI've always made pancakes from scratcg - my mum has a foolproof recipe which has never let me down
ReplyDelete1 cup self raising flour (you will need to add some baking powder to your plain flour over in the US, about 1 tsp I think?)
1 cup milk
1 egg
beat together, adding more milk if needed, and leave for 1/2 to get nice and gluggy :) the best part? it is so easy to double, triple, whatever you need :)
we use it for pikelets too, with fig jam and whipped cream, YUM!
Naomi.... thanks for the recipe.....I was wondering how I was going to make pancakes when the buttermilk ran out.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on making from scratch! I also make extra waffles and freeze too. Hint to make your milk into buttermilk add 1 tsp vinegar to your measuring cup and top with milk called for in the recipe and let sit for about 5 minutes, then continue with your recipe.
