I went to Costco this morning looking for 1 very specific item...
and ended up coming home with a gallon of enchilada sauce and 100 corn tortillas.
Which... I guess wasn't a bad thing....since the handsome husband had mentioned three times in the previous 24 hours that "turkey enchilada's" would be a great way to use up the rest of the Christmas turkey that was sitting in the fridge...
So I made the man 12 turkey enchilada's for dinner... leaving me with 88 corn tortilla's and 5 pints of enchilada sauce in the freezer...
Okay... now THIS is what I went into Costco for... I received a new fangled Ice Cream attachment for the Kitchen Aid Mixer and I wanted to whip up a batch of The World's Best Chocolate Ice Cream... the only problem was... I was out of baking cocoa...So I could either pay $2.99 for a new 8oz box of Hershey's mix or $11.29 for 5lbs of bulk Cocoa... I of course went for the big bag...
This is the new Kitchen Aid Ice Cream Bowl... I received from my Mother.
Honestly... at first ... I felt kinda like a sell out for using it... I really like my hand crank ice cream maker... but I think this will come in handy in the winter time.

And turn it on...
Let it freeze for about 2 hours... then it's ready to serve...
There you have it... cake and ice cream...

You can pretty much assume... that if I normally give you a birthday present... this year...instead of a party hat... you will be getting a giant cupcake and a pint of ice cream on your birthday...
Oh dear me...THAT is definitley something I need to put on my wish list!! I had no idea that there was an ice cream attachment for the ktichenaid mixer!!! Your post is very yummy today Mavis...thanks for sharing your kitchen happenings. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day.
Blessings,
Camille
That is one funky cupcake thingy. Another option would be to turn it into a little hut, complete with thatched roof, doors, and windows...
ReplyDeleteOh, I have so much to say!! In true Mavis fashion...
ReplyDelete1) Please send me some of that ice cream. I'm sure it won't melt with these temperatures.
2) That ice cream attachment is amazing. I had no idea there was such a thing.
3) I can't believe you posted about that giant cupcake mold! We had a pollyanna gift exchange with my siblings and their spouses and my sister brought this cupcake mold. My brother picked it and here, he can't stand the commercial/infommercial for it and started spouting off about how 'if you want a huge cupcake, just bake a cake for crying out loud'. He succeeded to get rid of it only to be stuck with it at the very end again. I have a feeling we'll be seeing it again at next year's exchange. I thought it looked fun, but I chose a hand towel and three little ornament frames. How practical am I?
4)Holy crap that's a lot of cocoa.
I saw that cupcake thing on TV! Did you get the secret pudding/ice cream filling attachment?
ReplyDeleteCamille...I think you should put it on your wish list...it could be a "learning tool"... the kids would love it!... you could even hold an ice cream tasting party...
ReplyDeleteMamaJJ... I could add tiki torches to the sides and use it for a hawaiian party...good idea!
Thyhand...I foresee lot's of chocolate desserts being served at our house in the near future...I think your brother should make a point to make everyone a giant cupcake for their birthday this year... HEY... he could bake Sam & Sadie their OWN cakes...
Tori... What??? You mean we didn't get the secret pudding thing? Hmmmm... I 'm going to have to look in to that... So what flavor of cake shall I bring to the baby shower? Chocolate... or double chocolate?
