How to make the best baby shower gift ever!

Okay... so maybe not the best gift ever... but the best BURP CLOTHS EVER!!

Step #1 cut out 4 pieces of fabric... 10" by 16"

I used some Amy Butler fabric...

Step #2 Buy some of this fabric... I don't know what's it called...
but it's the softest stuff in the entire world...

Step #3 Can you say Yumm a licious?

Step #4 Put right sides together, cut, pin and sew...

Leaving maybe a 1/4" seam allowance...

Leave about a 3" opening...

See how there is a little extra fabric around the edges?

Chop it off...

Then turn it right side out...

Can you tell how soft this fabric is?

ooooohhh ahhhh

Once you have it turned out... iron it ...

and sew the opening closed...

With this...

It's clear thread... and it cost's $8 for 1 stinkin spool... I'm not sure if I got ripped off or if that's what it really costs... I bought it down at the quilt store in town...

Then... you know how cloth diapers have that border on the sides?
Do that...
(are my directions awesome or what?)
I'm guessing about 4" from the side... maybe 3" ...who knows...

Do you see/understand what I'm talking about?

Anyway...
Holy Crackers...
here is what they look like when they are all finished...
Can you say Yumm a licious?

  1. Good work! We went through about 6-12 cloth diapers-as-spit-rags A DAY for Yo-Yo and Sweetsie when they were babies. They puked ALL THE TIME. Sweetsie is still deeply and profoundly attached to the remaining shreds. So you never know, those clothes just might be a crucial part of the giftee's emotional development...

  4. I love them!! Don't go selling them on Etsy.

I don't know what that fabric is really called, but I've seen it in the crazy online pregnant lady community referred to as "minky."

  6. JJ... true...very true... I happen to know several people who still sleep with their baby blankets...I'm not naming names ... but I do know a few.

Thyhand... you should say Yummm a licious more often... it's fun :) The accent is on the Yummmmmm.

Kathy... you should make these! They are stinkin awesome... I kinda want to keep on for myself... but I don't spit up that much :)

Tori... I'm glad you like them :) I'll keep looking for purple owl's... And thanks for the proper fabric name... I googled Minky fabric and sure enough that's what it is called.

Camille... thanks for the compliment... I can't wait to show what I'm working on next!

I LOVE comments BUT if you know who we are...due to the fact that we are currently enrolled in the international witness relocation program because of a moon shining incident in Dingle, Ireland involving 3 Mutton, a pair of red shoes and a road flare .... please do not reveal our personal information.... You know.... like names, places, or our favorite brand of toilet paper :) Hey, thanks!
