A lazy day for Mavis...

Tomorrow is a big coupon day so I thought I'd rest up and gather my strength for the upcoming shopping extravaganza.

Did I ever tell you we have a crust snob in our house?
I won't divulge who it is...
but don't worry... it didn't go to waste...

I chopped it up for the chickens...

And hey, remember the french fry experiment?
Well... it's still going on.
I'm convinced that Mc Yucks adds a mold growing agent to their fries.

If found this recipe in the latest addition of Cooking Light...
and really...really want to make it.
I can't find any broccoli rabb the regular stores...
which means if I really want to make it
I'm going to have to pay like $10,005 for some at Whole Paycheck...

Oh and lookey here...
I am soooo stinkin excited about this...

The peas are growing!!!

Yumm a licious...

And in other earth shattering garden news...

The kale, onions and lettuce are coming along nicely in my state of the art greenhouse...

The girl who thinks shes a bird took the chickens on a field trip today...

And brought the camera along too...

Yes, spring is in the air...

Which means it's time to get planting!

The seed of the day was chives...

I even started some in a pot...

I plan on bringing it to my Mother's Easter Party...

Personally, I think a pot of chives is way better than some silly tulips...

Because everybody knows... that chives are a happy food...
I mean... you could eat some potted tulips...
but it's not quite the same...

Garlic is a happy food too...

And so is rosemary...

Here's the latest view from the garden gate...

And here is Gladys...
she is hoping I can find some free cracked corn for her and the girls...
word in the coop is... she is expecting some visitors...
Hmmm... what does that mean?

  1. The rosemary, oh, the rosemary! I've been rosemary deprived for far too long. It's not healthy.

  2. All your little green sprouts and shoots look so lovely. Oh, when will the snow disappear?!

  3. JJ... If you lived next door I'd trade you some salsa for some rosemary... we are all out of salsa...boo hoo hoo.

Thyhand... I think I'd be freaking out if there was snow on the ground right now. I just planted garden bed #2 with peas this afternoon... and also radishes and lettuce.

  4. I commented earlier but must have hit the wrong button or something..I do that a lot. Anyway, your rosemary is amazing, ours not so much but I think it might have lived through the winter this year...fingers crossed. I can't believe you have peas coming up already, your so cool. We will be planting ours in about a month I hope, maybe I should plant some early as the weather is so mild and we have no snow...hmm.

Micki loved your Easter idea and wants me to grow some chives to give to her mother on Mothers day.:) Oh, and I love how you are using the leaves for everything, they are so good for the garden.

  5. Mr. H... I was able to plant another box of sugar snap peas yesterday along with a box of lettuce and radish... I am still waiting grrrr for my 1lb of peas (for freezing) from seedsavers... I think I'll have to call them today. If I were you I'd plant a few rows and hope it does not freeze... winter is over...go for it!

I LOVE comments BUT if you know who we are...due to the fact that we are currently enrolled in the international witness relocation program because of a moon shining incident in Dingle, Ireland involving 3 Mutton, a pair of red shoes and a road flare .... please do not reveal our personal information.... You know.... like names, places, or our favorite brand of toilet paper :) Hey, thanks!
