How to Make A Baby Bib...

It's rocket science I tell ya...

I borrowed an ugly bib that someone bought from Target for my neighbor Girly Girl...

She received some "ordinary" baby bibs as a shower gift... and she is re gifting them...
So I asked if I could borrow one to create a pattern...
...because c'mon... you know I'm not going to pay $10 for a paper pattern...

Nope... instead I will use this free paper bag that came in the Sunday paper a few weeks back instead...

Plus anyway...
who would want a bib that came from Target when you can have a handmade one instead...

Who wants a bib that's lined with plastic...

Or came from a factory...

In China...

I mean really... who cares about wiping the plastic bib clean...

When you can just toss it in the wash instead...

Handmade is WAY better...

And unique...

A one of a kind...

And when your friend who is always trying to copy you ....
asks...

"Oh... where did you get that?"

You can say...
"my favorite sister made it for me"

And when your copy cat friend asks if your favorite sister will make one for her you can tell her
"No"...

"My favorite sister is kinda cranky that way...
she only makes one of a kind gifts"...

"You know.... ones that aren't made in China...
with little plastic hang tags..."

Moral of the story:

BE ORIGINAL...

make a gift...

instead of giving a crappy plastic one that came off a shelf at Target.

  1. Woot woot!! You hit a nerve with me!!! More people need to MAKE gifts rather than buy the non original, mass produced stuff. Very lovely bib by the way!!! You could easilly pair it up with some of those fabulous freebies you get. I am certain you'll get free diaper coupons, powder, Parent magazine offers, etc. Gosh darn, I wish I had a kid so they could wear that bib!! Happy crafting lady!!

  6. I've made bibs out of DH worn out jeans always better to make/re-purpose, besides those bibs from the stores are so small.

  8. I often find store bibs aren't big enough lol.

Love your unique bib, might have a go at something similar (the old jeans idea sounds great)

  9. The China comment was more of a 'bet you can't guess who made that rule' thing. :)

  12. RacheyJ... Hi there! I used super soft minky fabric for the back and a cute cotton owl print for the front... I know it's probably not the most durable/will last 10,005 washings kinda of bib... but I was going for more of a fancy "look at me" kinda bib... I think it turned out super cute and great for taking the baby to the grandparents house or out and about :)

I LOVE comments BUT if you know who we are...due to the fact that we are currently enrolled in the international witness relocation program because of a moon shining incident in Dingle, Ireland involving 3 Mutton, a pair of red shoes and a road flare .... please do not reveal our personal information.... You know.... like names, places, or our favorite brand of toilet paper :) Hey, thanks!
