Weekly Dinner Update...

In one of my bartering deals last week I was the happy recipient of a sack of ground elk meat (organic and free range of course)

After browning the meat I place it and 2 quarts of home canned pasta sauce in the crock pot on high and let it simmer all day... then I added some (free) cooked egg noodles... Delish... I suppose this is the poor mans version of Hamburger Helper... or maybe it's the smart man's version of hamburger helper...

Buffalo Stir Fry... YUMM A LICIOUS...
made by the girl who thinks she's a bird...

Buffalo Soft Tacos...
(we actually ate soft taco's twice this week)

Beef & Broccoli... with mushrooms and water chestnuts...

And of course...cereal...
Cinnamon Life in case you were wondering...

  1. You make such great meals. Elk and buffalo? Now that is real meat, I can't remember the last time I had elk. I might take up eating meat on a regular basis again if elk was on the menue.:)

Since I can't pick the mexican meal everytime, I think that my favorite would be the...I can't decide, they all look so good. It's not the cereal though.

  2. Mr. H... I find it rather strange that I have the "real meat" thing down but am having such a hard time with the processed food... I'm thinking it has something to do with getting it all for FREE... I can't resist! I am a FREE FOOD JUNKIE! Maybe when the farmer's market opens in a few weeks I can get my act together... and don't forget... it's all Mrs. H's fault! :) Processed food aside... I'm LOVING the idea of free toiletries and Christmas gifts :)

  3. I've never tried elk before. What does it taste like? I need to find some folks to barter with for meat. Maybe I need to take out some sort of ad...pickled beets (I still have 20 pints I think) for elk or venison or grass finished beef. What do you think:-)?

  4. Thyhand... Luckily I live next to a bunch of hunters... so I can trade for all the elk and buffalo I could want... What about jams...men like jam... OR BETTER YET... cakes and pies... who doesn't love those? I'd be afraid of putting an ad in the paper or craigs list... too many weirdo's :)

I LOVE comments BUT if you know who we are...due to the fact that we are currently enrolled in the international witness relocation program because of a moon shining incident in Dingle, Ireland involving 3 Mutton, a pair of red shoes and a road flare .... please do not reveal our personal information.... You know.... like names, places, or our favorite brand of toilet paper :) Hey, thanks!
